Here’s Something You Really Don’t Want To Miss Out On…

All across the gospels in the new testament, we constantly read about how the Pharisees and Jews didn’t believe that Jesus was the Messiah. From gossiping about him to rejecting him, to plotting to kill him, they did it all. Yet, Jesus didn’t use any of that as an excuse to be a people pleaser and say the ear-tickling things that the people wanted to hear. Even though this aspect of Jesus’ life is known to us all, I realized something while I was reading chapters 7 & 8 in the book of John.

These two chapters also talk about how the teachers, Jews, and even his own brothers questioned him to trap him and accuse him. They couldn’t bear to think that Jesus who was born in a stable with sheep and hay would be the Son of God. Why? Because they had a different perspective about how the messiah would look like. They were so set in their ways that their eyes were blinded by pride and unbelief. How ironic that the teachers of the law of God failed to see that the same God they worshiped was right in front of their eyes. How incredibly sad. Just think about it, Jesus, the one we love, the one we adore, the one whose name is above all names walked the face of this earth and yet was failed to be recognized.

I recently asked myself this question, if I lived in Israel at that time and got a chance to meet Jesus face-to-face would I be one of those people who would be swayed by popular public opinion and mock Jesus with unbelief. Or would I be among those people that simply believed? I shudder to think what my response would have been. Let’s bring this whole thing back to the 21st century, right back into 2021.

Are we missing out on experiencing God who is right in front of us because of our unbelief? Are we so set in our ways that we refuse to allow God to move outside of the box that we have created for Him? If they could miss out on experiencing Jesus in the flesh, how much more susceptible are we to miss out on the things of God now. This is something to really ponder over. When was the last time you heard the still small voice of the Holy Spirit? When was the last time the Word came alive and you got fresh revelation? Is walking in the supernatural natural for you? Are you becoming more like Jesus every day of your life?

If God lives in us and is with us ALL the time. It’s impossible for us to stay the same unless we choose to push God out, just as the Pharisees did. It’s easy to simply just read the Bible, they did too. But, it’s a whole other thing to allow the word of God which IS God to transform us from the inside-out because we believe and choose to pay the price and follow Jesus.

I hope this is something that challenges you, cause it’s something that certainly challenged the living daylights out of me.
